We’ve all run out of patience, haven’t we? I know that I have. Plenty of times. The other day I was almost on a frantic search for some. So I sat down to breathe for a minute and decided to look up quotes on patience to help me reflect. I thought I would share some of my favorites with you…
Patience is the companion of wisdom. ~Saint Augustine
Patience and fortitude conquer all things. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
The two most powerful warriors are patience and time. ~Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy
All human wisdom is summed up in two words – wait and hope. ~Alexandre Dumas Pere
Be patient towards all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. Live the questions. ~Rainer Maria Rilke
Faith is not simply a patience that passively suffers until the storm is past. Rather, it is a spirit that bears things – with resignations, yes, but above all, with blazing, serene hope. ~Corazon Aquino
I love how a quick five minute break can fill your heart and soul with the strength and hope you need to stand up. Take a minute or two for you today.
Great post! A nice reminder that everyone should read. Patience is a virtue, and I have been working lately to be more patient as well.
Thank you, Tracy. I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Great post! I have always been patient with other people’s children but not always my own. Thank you for the nice reminder and these wonderful quotes. May I borrow a few for facebook?
Of course you can, Betsy. Luckily I’ve saved my patience for my children but have lost it in other trying obstacles I’m facing. A continuous work in progress.
My mother used to admire my patience. Now It’s more like, if patience is a virtue, I’m going to purgatory. Thanks for the quotes. Oh, and in between reading the post and making this comment, I took a moment for myself with some fresh hot coffee on my favorite porch. :O)
Good for you! Hot coffee and a porch sounds perfect! I appreciate you visiting the site, LuAnn. I’ll check yours out soon!
Today I bounced over from the link-up.
It’s amazing what a difference five minutes can make. Sometimes when I am pushing myself to do more, more, more, I forget half of what I intended to do. I think part of it just comes from this crazy pressure I put on myself to produce.
Anyway, glad I stopped by, love your tag line…”Each of us has a story…”
Thanks, Amy. I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to comment. I’ll be visiting your site shortly.
Short breaks do wonders for finding patience. We often tend to get tied up in the moment and forget that everything works itself out if we give it time. Thanks for the reminder of patience.
True, Eric, true. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
